Sometimes called wild crocus or windflower, this perennial is one of our earliest flowers in spring with purple-blue 6-petalled flowers with many yellow stamens; wispy seed heads and deeply cut foliage; sometimes seen on sunny hillsides but usually found in open forests. Easily outcompeted by large plants.
